Weekly therapy works. But it has a real limitation: 45 minutes go fast, and you often end up stopping in the middle of processing something. You pick it back up next week. The momentum breaks.
An intensive is different. A half-day or full-day session gives us enough time to go through a complete EMDR or Brainspotting process from beginning to end. In EMDR, progress is measured on a distress scale from zero to ten. The goal is to actually get to a resolution on a memory or belief. In a standard session, we might get partway there. In an intensive, we can finish.
It is a long day. People get tired. That is normal and expected. Most clients leave having done something they could not have done in a standard session.
Who This is For
Intensives tend to work well for people who:
- Have done some therapy before and want to go deeper, faster
- Have a schedule that makes weekly sessions hard to sustain
- Are working on something specific: a particular memory, a block, or a life transition
- Live outside Houston and want to do focused work over telehealth
- Are already doing weekly sessions and want to accelerate the work
This probably is not the right fit if you are in an active crisis, brand new to therapy, or unsure whether you want to do deep processing work. If you are not sure, reach out, and we can talk it through.
What to Expect
We start with a 90-minute assessment to figure out what we are working on and build a plan. Then we schedule the intensive.
On the day, we take breaks. We pace it. You do not have to push through anything. If something needs to slow down, we slow down. I follow your lead.
Most people feel tired by the end. Some feel lighter. Some need a day or two to integrate what came up. I check in with you afterward.
